Baltic amber stone with fossil insects - huge metallic wood-boring beetle Buprestidae, Schizopodinae.
This beetle superficially resembles to Scirtidae, but it has developed prosternum (largely reduced and difficult to recognize practically (outward) in Scirtidae), and also it has bi-lobed tarsomeres and they are lobed below well (tarsomeres of scirtids are only rarely and weakly lobed below).
It weighs 1 grams. Measurements of stone 22x14x6mm, length of beetle body and head ~ 8mm.
